Richard Meier’s newly added landmark
“The 42-story, 460-foot high residential tower will provide 556 rental and condominium apartments and will feature panoramic views of the New York City riverfront.”A new addition by Richard Meier & Partners Architects will be added to Manhattan skyline. It is the first approved building by New York City that creates a mixed-use building in a long-abandoned site along the river.
The all black building by Richard Meier is meant to be a landmark in the skies of Manhattan and reflects an innovative design that is iconic, transparent and minimal. The design aims to achieve urban public activity within visitors by offering shops, commercial services and shared spaces for residents.“It’s style brings the open-layout feel of converted downtown industrial spaces uptown.” mentioned Richard Meier and architects.
“The expansive glazing of the double-height lobby has a direct visual and physical connection with the surrounding context, the future public park and the East River. The light colored materials of this space rely on principles of light, order and geometry to create a modern and open space.”
