The contest was headed by Unibra, as the developer, and Thomas & Piron, as the construction company. The former parties have commissioned the winning team to embark on developing an area ranging from 25,000-50,000 sqm to revive the site at the crossroads of Boulevard du Triomphe and Herrmann-Debroux viaduct.

The project’s first renderings display several inclining residential towers emerging from a single podium, with one tower featuring a bowl-shaped roof. The high-rises appear to have greenery in the balconies which link the towers at certain locations.

The project hasn’t been executed yet, as the developer is currently contemplating the possibility of including a gym, a cinema, a hotel, and some shops.

The winning proposal is considered a part of a bigger revamp plan that has involved the Chirec Delta Hospital, which was designed by the Belgian Assar Architects, and the Universalis Park housing community.

Christophe Magdalijns, the mayor of Auderghem- the municipality at which the project will be located, has opposed the construction of the Delta Tower project. He thinks it is “too big and too tall”. Also, he was disappointed at how little the community has been involved in the contest.

Thomas & Piron thinks that the project can be constructed over 8 years if the current issues were resolved.
