Designed by Renzo Piano, the Intesa Sanpaolo skyscraper, which resides in Turin, Italy, has recently witnessed a new magnificent light installation that added up to the design of the skyscraper as well as the glamour of the city.
The show was participated by Migliore + Servetto Architects at the ‘Luci artist’s exhibition. ‘Lucia d’Artista’ is an outdoor event where Turin’s streets are lit up with dynamic light installations created by the participants.
About 100 light screens were brought together to constitute a big ‘alpha’- a letter from the Greek alphabet. The screens were made using silk-based printing and dichromatic film techniques to produce a rainbow of colors that change in appearance according to the time of day.
The installation starts at the interior of the skyscraper where the suspended screens resemble camera frames that are kept on hold. The other part of the show is located 35-floors high right outside the building, where the vivid colors and lights of fiberglass form an alpha letter.
“It’s like entering the shape of a tree or the deepest depths of a complex organism. It acts as a natural landscape, where shadow, light, and atmospheric elements come inside and modify perception”, Migliore + Servetto Architects commented.
Despite being composed of several elements; the light installation was very successful in introducing art to the urban environment.
