The construction of Santiago Calatrava’s pavilion in the UAE has just started. The pavilion is intended to be one of the main features of the Dubai Expo which is going to be held in 2020.
The falcon-resembling pavilion will spread across an area of 15,000 sqm and will be composed of four storeys. It will encompass a 1,717 sqm guest lounge on the upper floor, in addition to a multi-purpose mezzanine floor with an area of 588 sqm. The 12,000 sqm of the two remaining storeys will be dedicated to exhibition areas.
“The UAE Pavilion will undoubtedly be one of the most prominent attractions of Expo 2020, drawing in many millions to witness its futuristic design. It will be a wonderful opportunity to share our Emirati culture and achievements while showcasing our ambitious vision for the future. The Pavilion will be an architectural marvel that all seven Emirates can rightly take pride in, both now at the ground-breaking stage, during Expo, and in legacy when it will become a lasting icon of our nation.” said the Chairman of Dubai 2020 Expo, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, at the groundbreaking ceremony.
