Lovell International School, located in Pattaya, Thailand, offers a unique educational experience amidst a lush, tree-filled environment. The school’s commitment to preserving the site’s mature trees is evident in its thoughtful design.
Lovell International School’s Design Concept
From the outset, the layout was conceived to maximize the potential of these trees, fostering an enchanting atmosphere. The concept of treehouses seamlessly integrates with the overall design, creating charming, forest-like settings. The building’s curved shape gracefully avoids disturbing the existing trees and allows for a well-defined zoning structure based on the students’ age groups.
The Lovell International School’s ground floor is divided into three wings: one for children under three years old, another for kindergarteners, and a dedicated admission wing. Each wing boasts its courtyard and outdoor learning spaces, enveloped by vibrant greenery. The indoor play areas in front of each classroom are interconnected, serving various purposes, including shelter from adverse weather conditions like heavy rain or harsh sunlight due to the tropical climate.
The treehouse theme continues upstairs, housing specialized spaces for activities like cooking and art classes and a versatile multipurpose hall. Beneath the gable roofs, expansive spaces host a multitude of play frames, creating hideouts, play structures, and adventure zones.
Inside, Lovell International School exudes a cozy, wooden charm that complements the “little house in the big wood” ambiance. Classrooms are bathed in pleasant brightness with their white interiors, fostering an ideal learning environment.
The surrounding landscape is artfully divided into distinct zones, each aligned with the unique features of the existing trees. These zones cater to different age groups, from children under three to those over three, and extend to areas for agricultural and waste recycling education.
Additionally, a water play area features swimming and splash pools, providing endless enjoyment for the young students. The densest tree area is transformed into a forest-like playground, perfect for adventurous activities.
In essence, Lovell International School has created an enchanting haven where education harmonizes with nature, fostering a holistic and immersive learning experience for its students.
