Although the building appears to be rather impenetrable from the outside, it is in fact quite porous and light on the interior. Having been influenced by the Taihu stone, the structure, as mentioned, contains dynamic inner voids with interior linkages that connect the building’s dynamic programs through the central atrium. The services that are provided in the building include: servicing administration, student activities, learning and resources.

The shading system of recessed curtain walls and the regular patterns of the horizontal shading fins on the exterior elevation allow for ample light to enter the building. In addition to the shading and light porosity, the voids allow for passive ventilation to occur.
