Have you ever wondered if the renowned Antoni Gaudi designed AI-generated household appliances? Well, that’s what the Irish visual artist Marcus Byrne has done. Byrne used the AI-generated bot to construct a digital art line of toasters, coffee makers, and microwaves.
AI-Generated Household Appliances
How often does one find innovations from the Industrial Age that are richly adorned, embellished, and carved with designs evoking certain cultures, geographies, and tastes? Coffee machines, toasters, freezers, and other electrical appliances have changed over time to incorporate additional amenities and functions. However, their appearances have remained calm, simple, and unostentatious, except for rare splashes of bright colors and impressions of solid patterns on surfaces.
Yet, with the emergence of new and innovative appliances, it is not too far-fetched to anticipate a creative renaissance that can enhance the look of tools and devices to the point that they can be used as ornamental objects.
Marcus Byrne, an Irish visual storyteller who now lives in Australia, recently recreated a series of AI-generated household appliances in the unique Gaudi style —with the help of the artificial intelligence digital art generator.
Antoni Gaudi’s distinctive trademark of modernist architecture—inspired and influenced by the Catalan Gothic style, Art Nouveau ornaments, Neo-Gothic architecture, and Oriental interpretations of Asian design popular in Europe—is well known in inventive spirals and far beyond, with notable examples including the Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, and Casa Mila.
His out-of-the-ordinary buildings, embellished with embellishments and fabrics that mirror natural sources found throughout nature, appear familiar while igniting an awe-inspiring and surreal imagination.
Taking cues from the work of the twentieth-century architect, Byrne addressed linguistic cues on Mid journey, resulting in a sequence of aesthetically exciting photographs in which household appliances are reinvented to suit bright patterns.
“We live in an era of Apple and Tesla, with simple design taking the lead. We may picture a world where everyday household appliances are recreated with the Gaudi style using Mid journey and Photoshop.”
Whether it’s a coffee maker, toaster, microwave, or vacuum cleaner, each of the AI-generated household appliances is decorated with a vibrant mosaic design and attention to detail. According to Marcus Bryne, Photoshop is his weapon of choice. Therefore he utilized it to fine-tune each photo after shooting.
According to Stir Pad, Marcus Bryne responded, “There is no joy in giving away prompts,” when questioned about the prompts that formed the AI-generated household appliances inspired by Gaudi’s style.
These are very self-explanatory. Be inventive. Experiment with different words and have fun.” We decided to take on this task and attempted the Mid journey bot to create a light and a room heater in the recognizable Gaudi design.
