The recipients of the 2023 Residential Architecture Awards presented by the AIA Los Angeles chapter have been revealed. The annual series honored twenty developments in the housing industry, including single-family and multi-family homes and affordable and hospitable accommodations.
Besides the twenty projects already recognized, Southern California Edison also presented its Climate Positive Award to two new initiatives. In the residential category, both AIA|LA members and outsiders could submit work, and the categories open to them were Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), Affordable Housing (Affordable), Temporary Shelter (Temp Shelter), Adaptive Re-use (AR), Multi-Family (MF), and Single-Family (SF).
According to the organization, “The organizers made an intriguing observation about the 2023 Residential Architecture winning projects: many of them include requirements from various categories, showing shared demands in modern residential spaces, especially for multi-family dwellings. Many of the prize-winning creations also show notable incorporations of natural elements.”
