These sculptural pieces are made of a single extruded piece of aluminum. A large press can squeeze out up to ten thousand pounds of aluminum through its die (the opening that forms the shape of the profile desired).
The aluminum starts raw and unpolished and undergoes a long sculpturing and polishing process until it reaches the desired shape, profile and feel.
Since its first unveiling at Haunch of Venison exhibition, Thomas Heatherwick has been working on making the product suitable for contract.
