An Infinite Wave of LEDs
Inspired by the natural flow of waves, Brazilian designer, Muti Randolph, creates a visually mesmerizing piece of art for the main window façade of Le Lampe; a Brazilian company for LED lights. The display design incorporates technology with art in order to produce a smooth, continuous pattern.
The installation is reflected in many mirrors around it giving it “the illusion of an infinite sea of light.” Randolph’s work creates the visual illusion of movement; aluminum pipes hold each of the display pieces in place. With different, gradual heights, the pipes create a very smooth flow mimicking that of a wave.
The fusion of LED light with the creative artistic form has definitely given the design a different dimension. “Light is a wave. I ride waves on the sea surface, so it’s a constant source of inspiration,” Says Randolph. Acting as a light source, as well as a stunning artistic illustration, the design is a very energy-efficient piece of work. Located in Rio de Janeiro, the installation is a very visually stimulating piece of art; it satisfies Randolph’s belief as “art should be part of people’s routines and everyday lives, and not be just confined to museums and galleries.”
