Apple’s Mac G5s Given a Second Life by Klaus Geiger

Apple! A remarkable company, with its long history of launching many electronics and computers, has a fresh up-cycling project to be presented. The Bench-Marc collection, designed by Klaus Geiger, is a one of a kind up-cycling project for one of Apple’s milestones, the Mac G5 computers. These creations were the first 64-bit PC ever produced; their sophisticated smooth aluminum design allows for their easy alteration into modern furniture. This project definitely shows off the versatility this Apple product holds.

For this great, one of a kind BenchMarc collection the Mac G5 housing was stripped of all electronic parts, leaving a clean strong shell to be transformed into different furniture. These computers were much too important to be thrown away in the garbage, instead, their cases were arranged together to create benches, tables, and storage units. The upcycled benches were created by using a solid wood board perfectly cut to fit between the two handles. On the other hand, the storage units were enhanced by adding sliders into the housing. This integration allows for the perforated front to turn into either horizontal or vertical drawers. For all of you Apple fans out there, this straightforward and stunning upcycling project is definetly something to look forward to.
