Avia + Aria | Zaha Hadid Architects

Like dripping plastic fused in form, these new lamps by Zaha Hadid Architects, unveiled recently at the Euroluce lighting show, are both true to motif as well as an interesting new development for the studio. With their sweeping forms, Zaha Hadid Architects have great potential not only in the architectural sphere, as they have well shown, but also in accessory items such as furniture and lighting. These are play areas, not lacking seriousness, but possessing of a wealth of possibilities without many of the formal restrictions present in architecture.

The Avia fixture is clad in 50 sheets of translucent black plastic arrayed around a core of six lamps and a downward-facing spot light.

Similar to Avia in form and lamps but different in cladding and size possibilities is the Aria series. These fixtures are available in both small residential sizes and larger set-piece chandelier sizes and can be clad in either white or black opaque plastic fins.
