The task: to create a 40m linking footbridge between the main building of TU München and the cafeteria, which are separated by the Gabelsbergerstraße.
The solution proposed by Nelli Maier, is a faux-twisting form constructed of steel tube and supported by the geometry created by their intertwining as well as a single massive pylon located at the central point. Louvres span between structural members, providing views of the street and surroundings as well as giving the bridge, with its gentle slope, a further sense of directionality.
