CTZ2 House’s Location

CTZ2 House is situated on a plot with a steep slope towards the southeast, overlooking the beautiful Portitxol bay in Jávea. The location is stunning, with the captivating Portitxol island to the north and the scenic Punta del Cap Negre viewpoint to the south. In order to complement the plot’s geometry, the project focuses on raising the day area, which includes the terrace and pool, to the upper level. This design approach allows for optimal utilization of the breathtaking surroundings.

CTZ2 House takes advantage of its south-facing location to offer magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea. The overall design and structure of the project are intricately influenced by the plot’s orientation, geometry, and slope. Despite the initial challenge posed by the rugged topography, it ultimately plays a pivotal role in shaping the architectural morphology of the project, turning what might have been seen as a disadvantage into a defining feature.

The Design Concept Of CTZ2 House

CTZ2 House’s design features a series of gracefully curved platforms that seamlessly adjust to the undulating terrain’s unevenness. These platforms are staggered carefully to follow the natural slope of the land. The southeast façade of the house has a horizontal layout and an elegant, flowing arrangement of these platforms, creating an illusion of weightless levitation as they contrast against the magnificent landscape.

The terraces surround the glass enclosure at every level. This design blurs the line between the indoor and outdoor areas, creating a seamless integration of the two spaces. On the ground floor, the platform expands in the central region, creating a spacious terrace. It tapers towards the edges to align with the surrounding conditions, allowing for a harmonious connection with the surroundings.

The terrace blends seamlessly with the horizon, creating a graceful transition with a curved pool. This creates an illusion of the terrace extending beyond its immediate surroundings. The Mediterranean garden on the terrace complements CTZ2 House’s architecture, and cypress trees are placed in a way that they pass through the perforations in the platforms, adding to the overall horizontal aesthetic of the house.

The horizontal elements of the structure are sustained by a cleverly designed framework consisting of dry stone walls and slender metal pillars. The dry stone walls serve as both anchors and boundaries for the terrain, while the metal pillars provide additional support. This combination of supporting elements creates a striking contrast with the robust, horizontal nature of the platforms.

The upper level of the house has an entrance hall and three bedrooms. Each bedroom has a terrace that offers a beautiful sea view. To enter the house, you have to go through a double-height area that serves as the central hub for vertical movement. The sculptural staircase made of black Marquina marble is an eye-catching feature within this space. It elegantly connects different areas of the house and becomes a prominent focal point, drawing attention from various viewpoints throughout the residence.
