The Design week calendar is going to be pretty full for the month of November. With Design Weeks happening in the U.S, the Netherlands, and even Peru, the events happening in this particular month will surely draw a crowd. In the U.S, Austin and Nashville are holding their own design weeks. There, they will get to display the works of the local design community. While in Lima, Peru the Lima Design Week alone is going to draw around 10, 000 people to the capital.
As for Dubai, the Dubai Design Week will act as a backdrop for the unveiling of the new Jameel Arts Center. But the long-awaited event is probably the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Amsterdam. The event is an awards ceremony but also a global opportunity to display new projects and recent innovations in design. So here’s an overview of what’s in store for the Design Weeks in the upcoming November.

Austin, Texas–United States
Date: November 5th-9th
This is the third installment of this annual design week. The event is meant to bring designers of all disciplines together. What is special about this event is that it’s entirely free. In fact, with the contribution and efforts of Austin’s design community, there will be 100 free events this year. These events will include panels from experts, workshops for practical application, and studio tours that show how a design studio works.
The design week will also include the second iteration of Austin Design Week’s Design-a-thon. The Design-a-thon competition allows different teams to come up with solutions to Austin’s problems through design. The events scattered across the week will allow the local community to meet industry experts, learn new skills, and network with their peers.
Nashville, Tennessee– United States
Date: November 6th-15th
This event is following in the footsteps of Austin Design Week, as it features exhibitions and installations by local artists. It also aims to highlight Nashville’s metropolitan aesthetic by inviting architect Tony Giarratana who is the developer of the 505, the city’s popular luxury high rise.
Lima– Peru
Date: November 6th-18th
The fifth annual Lima Design Week will occur across the city of Lima. The event will allow outsiders to discover more about the capital. Additionally, many of Lima’s design houses are located in the main squares and avenues of the city. This means that visitors of the event will not only get the chance to rub shoulders with Lima’s industry elite but take in the sights as well. The event itself is a bunch of segments that will cater to different disciplines, from architecture to fashion design. Through a variety of cultural gatherings and educational sessions, Lima Design Week is ensuring that there is something for everyone.
Dubai– United Arab Emirates
Date: November 12-17
With 230+ events spread out in the week, the fourth edition of Dubai Design Week is well on its way to being an unprecedented event. The week will feature talks from industry experts covering every topic under the sun, from Linkedin to women in architecture. There will also be workshop sessions that deal with Jewelry making since it is a popular craft in the region. The events will take place in the Dubai Design District (d3), and its goal is to emphasize Dubai’s image as the design hub of the Middle East. The Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai’s first contemporary art institution, is set to open its doors around the time of the design week itself. The center owes its design to the U.K.-based architecture firm Serie Architects.
Amsterdam– The Netherlands
Date: 28th-30th November
Hollywood has the Oscars, while architects have the World Architecture Festival. The Awards ceremony celebrates architects from all around the world, allowing them the chance to display their works and get judged by powerhouses in the industry. Recently, the 20 finalists for the architecture photography award were chosen. During the festival, visitors will vote to select the award winner. This year the event will take place at the RAI Exhibition and Convention Center.
