Gehry Partners Design New Sustainable Office Building Adjacent to Their Headquarter in Los Angeles

LA Department of City Planning has released renderings for a new office building in Los Angeles City, designed by Gehry Partners. The new office building will be located at the corner of Jandy Place and Beatrice Street in the Playa Vista neighborhood, and it will carry the name “New Beatrice West”. It will be adjacent to the office building which currently accommodates celebrated architect Frank Gehry and his practice partners.

The building will comprise a total of eight floors. Its top five floors will house office spaces, while the bottom three will contain retail space, restaurants, and parking spaces. There will, also, be underground parking spaces so that the building can host up to 845 vehicles. New courtyards and paths which will be introduced, as well, in order to enhance the aesthetics of the development and its surroundings.

The renderings reveal the building to be covered in lush greenery and topped with shrubs and plantings which shall contribute to its passive cooling. The building will also adopt low-flow water fixtures and energy efficient lighting to maintain a sustainable development. It will further provide parking spaces with lockers and showers to promote cycling as a sustainable mean of transport. The project is expected to be finished in a duration of 22 months.
