Wind and water – glass sculptures | Shayna Leib

Wind and water  –  glass sculptures Shayna Leib

Shayna Leib is a Wisconsin based artist who created these unique glass sculptures in a form that seemed like they were popping out of paintings. This series of glass sculpture is part of the “ Wind and Water ” series. Through the landscape of sculptural glass, Leib seeks to explore the powerful elements of Earth – Wind and water – that is both nearly indiscernible to the naked eye, yet we are so innately aware of its presence and understand their intrinsic capacity to soothe and destroy, and their weave patterns that respond to our physical touch. Both wind and water do not have any color, yet they are moving through space despite their invisibility. We do not sensitive enough to detect their form as it moves through space, however we are very attuned to the patters and shapes that are created as they move through. Through this, it is the inspiration that Leib took in creating these lively glass sculptures – one that tries to express the contradictory character of fragility, violence, placidity and turbulence.
