Grid Structure Installation
The Open house at the Singapore University of Technology and Design held earlier this year saw an innovatively designed exhibition display by Associate professor Toni Kotnik and Assistant professor Carlos Bañón. This grid structure installation was intended to showcase the Department of Architecture and Sustainable Design students’ work throughout the academic year.
The design concept of the installation was formulated keeping in mind the overall space of the exhibition. This centralized display comprised of 200 wooden studs of about 1 meter length each configured into a modular grid system. This entire display was lifted off the ground at a height of about 750 mm with the help of 16 oxidised steel tripods. These tripods allowed for the entire wooden display unit to appear as if it were floating.
The visitors to the end of the year exhibition at SUTD were in for a visual treat as this exhibition installation added to the overall charm of the entire body of student work.
