Ice Block 3D Printed Heels

We’re all familiar how women go head over heels when they spot a stunning pair of heels. And again, a sensational pair of 3D printed high heels has been unveiled by United Nude (UN) at the Vogue Fashion’s Night Out event, reminding us of its marvelous predecessors from the ‘Reinventing Shoes’ collection. The new pepped up design is a result of UN’s collaboration with 3D Systems. These 8 inch high wedges have been 3D printed, into a form which seem as if volumetrically abstracted from a block of ice. The technological ease put into its making has been explained well by Rem Koolhaas, the Creative Director of United Nude. ”the 3D printing technology allows us to experiment with new shapes much quicker than before, without big development costs and for very small quantities. Designing and making a unique shoe for a special occasion was never this easy before. The shoe is a real showpiece with a solid wow factor. I have to admit I really like this immediate way of working!” This design cleverly unifies the strength of PLA and the finish of hand stitched premium leather, to render a pair of heels, which blow our minds off. Primarily made from PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) filament and printed in a CubePro (professional Desktop 3D Printer), these limited edition shoes are extremely premium and pricey. Constituted by two black leather straps fastened onto a white plasticized chopine, the heels strike a bold monochromatic statement. As we are aware, UN has established itself among the front-runners in the field of 3D printed fashion and parametric product design. With outlets in more than 50 countries, UN is definitely leading, at creating stylish heels from exquisite design extracts. These ICE heels will be exhibited till 28th September 2015 at the United Nude Pop-Up store in Taipei, Taiwan.
