Indonesian Village Undergoes Colorful Transformation for Just $22,000
The small Indonesian village of Kampung Pelangi has been given an eye-popping makeover for just $22,000. Slamet Widodo, the 54-year-old principal of a junior high, was inspired by the transformation of other Indonesian towns and thought to give his own village a vibrant multi-colored look. The entire village was repainted in full hues: 230 houses, fences, stairs, and benches, and the walls were decorated with playful murals. This overhaul cost the village no more than 300 million Indonesia Rupiah, which is equivalent to $22,500, and it was completely worth it. Owners of local shops and restaurants have already reported a significant rise in their sales following the completion of the project.
