listen to your hands | Lee Sanghyeok

What a wonderful idea for a table. What a wonderful idea for well, anything. The table project ‘Listen to Your Hands’ by Berlin-based Korean designer Lee Sanghyeok investigates the ways in which we make relationships with the many inanimate things in our domestic space. There is a fascinating element of ’cause and effect’ to this piece- when one drawer is closed, another opens. The compartments act as if from a dialogue on-going between each other- perhaps with the user acting as moderator. As the user uses, moderating this discourse, (s)he becomes aware of the internal language, acting with increasing intention, ultimately coming to something far deeper than can be described as ‘hand-eye coordination’.
