Notably, 30% of the apartments are designated for disabled and formerly homeless seniors, reinforcing the project’s commitment to inclusivity. Sustainability is also a key focus, with features like rainwater collection, efficient HVAC systems, and all-electric heating and appliances ensuring eco-friendliness.

Architecturally, the five-story, 42,000-square-foot structure distinguishes itself with an optic white exterior accented by a striking slate grey standing seam metal roofline and vertical geometric facets. The interior includes an inviting courtyard on the ground level and a green roof that signifies the start of an outdoor terrace walking path for seniors.

Each Allan and Geraldine Rosenberg Residence unit offers spacious layouts and abundant natural light, promoting communal interaction and stairways over elevators to encourage a sense of community. Studio Libeskind’s commitment to affordable housing extends beyond this project, with plans for a similar senior housing endeavor at the Sumner Houses in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. This initiative aligns with Daniel Libeskind’s mission, driven by his experiences with social housing in Poland, Israel, and the United States.
Governor Hochul praised developments like the Allan and Geraldine Rosenberg Residence for their role in connecting older adults, providing essential services, and addressing the demand for high-quality, sustainable housing on Long Island. This project exemplifies the vision for vibrant, independent living in a supportive community, a vision shared by Studio Libeskind and New York State.
