Coherence and accessibility are introduced to the planning by introducing orientation through integrating a towering structure with the adjacent horizontal lower-rise structures. To foster cooperation, the Oppo Technology & Research Centre Tower’s design includes several openings and a variety of floor heights.

The tower’s enormous footprint is subdivided into segments that are more in keeping with the human scale; these volumes are relocated both horizontally and vertically to attain variety in layout and architecture and guarantee exceptionally abundant amounts of sunlight are maintained for all people; a typical design takes advantage of a series of rooms with a view staggered around the perimeter.

A similar principle of movement was used for the façade, creating a lively and sparkling aesthetic while still conforming to the design requirement that all new high-rises have a 30 percent solid façade. The tower’s vertical sections are each crowned by a triple-height lantern space that lets in natural light and air and creates a seamless appearance between levels below.
