Made from carefully broken shards of coloured glass, the Polish artist Marta Klonowska creates life-like, animals. But wait! No, it isn’t the artist herself, that is created in broken glass, but the sculptures, and these aren’t just the typical glass figurines that your mother buys.
While being life-like, they are also life-sized and created in poses and positions sourced from Baroque and Romantic paintings by artists such as Peter Paul Rubens or Francisco de Goya. The works are often displayed next to a print of the source work.
