UIC Building ‘V on Shenton’ | UNStudio

The UIC Building, once the tallest in Singapore’s Central Business District is up for redevelopment. Located on the Shenton Way, the redevelopment, ’V on Shenton’ will be a unique signature of UNStudios in this part of the city.

It will comprise of a multi programme building of residential and office.

The office tower rising up to 23 storeys will comprise retail, parking and office spaces. A sky garden of a total 360 view on the urban-scape gives it a green touch of nature whiles providing a refuge from the city. The height of this block of offices reflects the adjacent buildings in this area. On the groundfloor, stainless steel inlaid into the floors and lines of light guide visitors to their destinations.

The residential tower rising to 53 storeys also corresponds to the heights of adjacent buildings to this part. The sky garden also with 360 views integrates into the sustainable lifestyle of future residents providing full amenities while maintaining their privacy.

The facades are one striking feature of the towers. Based on a hexagonal pattern, they are designed, through angles and shading devices to increase the performance in respect of the climatic conditions of Singapore. These patterns give the facades a scaly nature, which is varied, in various parts of the towers to reflect the spaces behind the façade.

The tower framing in “chamfers” forms the unifying element of both towers. During the day, they appear smooth whiles at night they are lit as a continuous line.
